Brief description of study

What is the purpose of this study?
The purpose of this program is to identify, evaluate, study, and follow persons who have Alzheimer's disease, those who have other disorders of memory and thinking, and older individuals who have normal memory and thinking.

Detailed description of study

What will happen during the study?
  • All subjects who enroll in the study will have an initial visit (3-5 hrs) and then have yearly visits.
  • All in person visits include neuropsychological testing, physical and neurological examination, and completion of a questionnaire by a person who knows the subject well.
  • Telephone follow-up visits will be done at the discretion of the PI and participant based on availability and health.
  • Audio recordings of verbal memory and verbal fluency subtests will be obtained with subsequent transcription to improve scoring accuracy.
  • A sample of blood (85 ml, about 6 tablespoons) will be drawn at each in-person visit for biomarker and genetic research. The IADRC prefers that blood be drawn following a fasting of 6 – 8 hours.

Participants will be compensated for their participation.
