Brief description of study
Researchers in the IU School of Public Health are looking for volunteers to take part in a study to better understand the stressors experienced by people as they go about their everyday lives.
Individuals between 50 and 64 years of age who are
able to use a smartphone intermittently throughout the day, including at
work, are eligible to participate.
Your stress will be measured using a smartphone app and smartwatch that you will wear for a 3-week period.
Compensation will be provided.
Detailed description of study
What is Involved
A smartphone and smartwatch will be provided to you for the duration of the study (both must be returned at the culmination of the study).
If you choose to participate, you will be asked to do the following:
1. Attend an initial study meeting for approximately 2 hours, where we’ll provide you with a smartphone, smartwatch, and directions on how to use them. You’ll also complete a survey about your physical and mental health.
2. Carry the smartphone provided to you for the three-week study period. The smartphone will log your location throughout the study period.
3. Log all stressful experiences via a smartphone app for the three-week study period.
4. Wear a smartwatch for the three-week study period.
5. Return for a final study meeting where you return the smartphone and smartwatch.
