Brief description of study
The purpose of this study is to compare the difference between complications from placing a stent after stone surgery versus complications from not placing a stent after stone surgery.
Detailed description of study
Information about participants health and treatment of their kidney stones will be collected. Participants will also complete 2 surveys.
After kidney stone surgery, participants will be randomly assigned to either receive a ureteral stent or no ureteral stent.
Participants will be contacted via phone or return for a clinic visit 5-10 days after surgery to assess UTI diagnosis, unintentional stent dislodgement, unanticipated provider or ER visits, return to work, and additional surveys.
Researchers will also contact participants via phone after 30 days, and review their medical record from their 4-8 week post-surgery visit.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

Age:
18 years or below
Gender: All
Individuals at least 18 years of age undergoing ureteroscopy for a nonobstructing renal stone no more than 1.5cm total diameter.
Individuals with ureteral stone, preoperative hydronephrosis, indwelling nephrostomy tube, or solitary kidney will not be eligible.
Pregnant women will not be eligible.
