Brief description of study

ARE YOU A BLACK OR AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES? 
 
We Want To Hear From YOU!

Researchers at the Indiana University School of Medicine are inviting volunteers to share their thoughts and opinions on handouts that they have created for a treatment for women who are struggling with diabetes.


Participation involves attending a one-time online focus group (video-conference) - NO IN-PERSON VISITS ARE REQUIRED.

Your feedback will help researchers to improve an intervention for people with diabetes.

Detailed description of study

Who Is Eligible To Participate In This Study?
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Self-identify as an African American female
  • Type 2 diabetes diagnosis at least 1 year ago
  • English-speaking
  • Must have the technology available (such as computer or smartphone) to be able to participate in a video-conference focus group
  • No serious mental health disorder (e.g., psychotic disorders or severe mood disorders with suicidal ideation)
What Is Involved If I Participate?
  1. Complete a brief online survey
  2. Participate in one focus group (60-90 min) by video conference with no more than 10 other women.
  3. During the focus group, you will be asked to provide feedback about handouts that have been developed for people with diabetes.
Will I Be Compensated For Participating?
  • After completing both the short survey and the online focus group, participants will receive a $25 gift card by email.

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: diabetes,type II diabetes
  • Age: 21 years - 100 years
  • Gender: Female

  • Self-identify as African American female
  • Type 2 diabetes diagnosis at least 1 year ago
  • English-speaking
  • Must have the technology available (such as computer or smartphone) to be able to participate in a video-conference focus group
  • No serious mental health disorder (e.g., psychotic disorders or severe mood disorders with suicidal ideation)
