Brief description of study
Researchers at Indiana University are looking for adults to take part in a study to better understand how bereaved individuals uniquely experience grief-focused videogames and how that can help us design technology to support people who are grieving.
Study participation involves completing online surveys, Zoom interviews and playing a videogame from the convenience of your own home - NO IN-PERSON VISITS ARE REQUIRED.
Your participation may help researchers to generate future technology design insights based on your experiences.
Detailed description of study
Who is eligible to participate?
- Ages 18 and older
- Must have experienced a non-violent loss of a loved one in the past 2-8 years
- Must be willing to play a videogame
What is involved if I participate?
- Attend a 60-minute orientation interview
- Play through a videogame for 3-4 hours (the videogame GRIS will be temporarily provided to you, free of charge, for the duration of your participation on the study)
- As you play through, you will be asked to complete 6 10-15 minute “diaries” (essentially a survey) on your experience playing the game
- Attend a 60-minute follow-up interview
- Total study participation will last 2-4 weeks
Will I be compensated?
- You will receive up to $35 total for completing all of the study requirements.
