Brief description of study
Researchers at Indiana University School of Medicine are
researching a nasal treatment for COVID-19.
We
are looking for people with a recent onset of mild COVID-19 symptoms and
a positive COVID-19 test in the last few days to come for a 2 hour visit
at Riley Hospital for Children to help us test this new treatment.
For COVID-19 to thrive in your respiratory system, it needs
an acidic pH. We are investigating a treatment that brings the respiratory
system’s pH from being acidic back to the right level in order to reduce the
severity of COVID-19.
Detailed description of study
Who is Eligible
This study is for people who are 18-60 years of age who also:

Have tested positive for
COVID in the last few days
-
Have respiratory
symptoms (cough, nasal congestion, runny nose, etc.)
-
Are available for 1
clinic visit and 1 follow up phone call
-
Are not pregnant
What is Involved
Attend 1 study visit at Riley Hospital in
Indianapolis, IN and be available for 1 phone call follow-up, over the course
of 2 days.
Study visits will include:
- Pregnancy test (females only)
- Answering survey
questions about the severity of your COVID symptoms

Pulmonary function
tests
-
Nasal measurements
and fluid collections
-
A breathed-in
treatment through a nebulizer
-
Phone call outreach
on the day following your visit, to answer more questions about the severity of
your symptoms.
Compensation
-
Participants will receive
up to $75 for completing all of the study requirements.

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: covid, covid-19, coronavirus

Age: 18 years - 60 years

Gender: All
Eligibility
- Are 18-60 years old
- Have tested positive for COVID in the last few days
- Have respiratory symptoms (cough, nasal congestion, runny
nose, etc.)
- Are available for 1 clinic visit and 1 follow up phone
call
- Are not pregnant
