Sarah Honaker
Primary Investigator
Brief description of study
Research participants will be paid up to $400 in gift cards for study activities, including completing online forms, two virtual visits, and wearing a sleep tracker for one week.
Detailed description of study
- You will be asked to attend 2 virtual study visits (1 hr each)
- Your family’s involvement in the study will take about one month.
- We will also follow your child’s growth over the next two years by reviewing their medical records.
- Completing online forms (approx. 2hrs): We will ask for information about your family background and your baby’s sleep, feeding, and health.
- Collecting a small hair sample (10 min) from yourself and your baby: You will be given instructions and will return the samples by mail (samples will be used to test for a stress hormone called cortisol).
- Completing a sleep tacker and daily activity log: For one week we will ask you and your baby to wear a sleep tracker during the day and at night (you will wear the sleep tracker around your wrist and the baby will wear it on the ankle) and we will send you an 5 minute online form each morning where we ask about your baby’s sleep and eating over the past day.
- Medical records: For the next two years, we will check your child’s medical record for their growth, such as height and weight (you will not need to do anything during this time).
- Families who complete all study activities can receive up to $400 in gift cards.
- If you are interested or have any questions, please call 317-500-4642 or email sleep@purdue.edu
