Brief description of study
Are you an adult who has moved away from your family, and have at least one distant older family member with whom you would like to connect over food and cooking? Connecting over food involves (but is not limited to) teaching recipes to one another, talking about diet, and/or sharing fun cooking and eating moments. If this sounds like you, consider participating in this research study with your family member!
Researchers at Indiana University are looking for family member pairs to take part in a study which investigates the sharing and teaching of cooking experiences through a mobile app. The researchers are interested in how the digital sharing of food experiences influences eating habits and social connection across distance.
This study involves using the mobile app over a 4-week period and giving feedback on the experience to the researchers. Please note that ALL STUDY TASKS CAN BE DONE REMOTELY - no in-person visits are required and compensation will be provided.
Detailed description of study
What will happen during study participation:
- You and your family member will attend an initial 60-min. online interview (separately)
- You and your family member will be asked to download and use the study app for a 4-week period
- You and your family member will participate in a 15-min check-in call with the study staff at the end of each week (separately)
- You and your family member will attend a 60-min post-completion online interview (together)
