Brief description of study

Our goal is to try to learn how kidney stones are made in different people. Many people with the participants' type of kidneys have something called Randall’s plaque.  Plaque is something that forms on the inside of some people’s kidneys.  The doctor thinks this plaque is involved in how kidney stones are made.

Detailed description of study

Participants who agree to be in the study will be asked to allow pictures that are taken of the insides of the kidneys to be used for this research. Surgeons use a small camera to perform the procedure and will use this same camera to take the pictures, while asleep. We also ask participants to allow a small piece of the kidney stone(s) that are removed to be sent for additional testing to help us see what it is made of and how it is made to determine whether plaque number, area, location correlate with metabolic measures in calcium oxalate stone disease in children.
