Brief description of study

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks the gut whenever a person eats gluten, a protein that is found in many grains.  This attack causes damage to the gut, making it hard for the body to absorb nutrients.  The only known treatment for celiac disease is a strict gluten-free diet.  The purpose of this study is to learn more about pediatric patients with celiac disease.  Researchers will gather information from routine visits to a celiac disease doctor.

Detailed description of study

Once participants consent to participate, we will gather information  from  routine visits with the celiac doctor.  This will include lab results, how the patient is feeling at each visit and how the patient is growing.  About every six months, participants will also be asked to complete forms asking questions about quality of life, foods eaten, and symptoms of celiac disease.   Participation will last until the patient is no longer being seen at Riley Hospital for Children.
