Brief description of study
People who undergo heart surgery are at risk for accumulating extra fluid in the body, which may negatively affect the body’s ability to heal after surgery. The purpose of this research is to determine if markers in your blood can help identify those patients who are at greatest risk for fluid related complications.
Detailed description of study
Researchers will draw one teaspoon of blood from participants one week before their scheduled cardiac surgery. They will draw a second teaspoon of blood one day after surgery. They will review the participants' medical charts as well.
