Brief description of study

This proposal will expand on our current work with the SRC/IRB approved project (IRB: #15991 Assessing Household Material Hardship in Children with Central Nervous System (CNS) Tumors). This new population can serve as a comparison, with children admitted to the hospital for infectious diseases and requiring long hospital stays and/or outpatient antibiotic therapy. We believe a comprehensive view of this population may give insight to those who experience poor clinical outcomes.

Detailed description of study

•         Aim 1: Describe household material hardship among children with infectious diseases
•         Aim 2: Explore the association between social determinants of health, including prospective household material hardship data, and clinical outcomes and healthcare utilization, specifically emergency room visits, unplanned admissions, hospital readmissions within 30 days of discharge, and length of stay for children with infectious diseases.
