Brief description of study

The goal of this study is to use a new immune monitoring (test and define properties of the patient’s cells). This information will help work towards :in vitro panel kit, that analyzes properties like 65 cytokines, chemokines, growth factors/regulators, and soluble receptors simultaneously within 1) the GCF(gingival crevicular fluid) of gender and age matched periodontally healthy and diseased sulci, 2) the PICF (peri-implant crevicular fluid) of gender and aged matched peri implant healthy and periimplantitis sulci, and 3) to analyze associations between biomarkers found in these sulci (space between tooth and gum tissue) and how they relate to age and gender.

Detailed description of study

GCF/PICF samples will be collected from posterior (premolar and molar teeth). In the case of periodontitis or peri-implantitis, two samples will be collected from two different sites with the deepest probing depth, highest CAL and signs of inflammation, along with radiographic confirmation of bone loss. Sites should preferably be on the same tooth/implant, quadrant, or the same side. PerioPaper strip be used to collect GCF and PICF, by placing it in the sulcus and keeping it for 1 minute in all subject groups.
