Overview

Why is this study being done?
Researchers at the IU School of Public Health want to better understand the health of Black and African women. The goal of this study is to explore the health behaviors, experiences, and conditions of these women which will help guide interventions to reduce the disparities in reproductive health among these populations of women.

Who can take part in this study?
Women, ages 18-45, who self-identify as black or African American.

Description

What will happen during the study?
  • Complete a brief one-time survey either online or paper copy.
  • The survey will ask will ask sensitive questions about health, recent or current pregnancies including outcomes from previous pregnancy, healthcare use, nutrition, exercise, drugs or alcohol use, breastfeeding, and domestic violence.
Incentive/compensation
  • Participants have the option to enter into a drawing for 1 of 10 $25 Visa gift cards.

The study is being conducted by Dr Brian Dixon, a Professor and Scientist at IU Fairbanks School of Public Health and Regenstrief Institute. It is funded by the National Library of Medicine.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    all
  • Age: Between 18 Years - 45 Years
  • Gender: Female

Inclusion Criteria:
  • African or Black American woman
  • Born in the United States or an African country
  • Between the age of 15-45 years old.
