Brief description of study

Why is this study being done?

The purpose of this study is to assess the existing need for information, and to better understand how and what kind of training may benefit people with Developmental Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other related disabilities.

THIS STUDY IS ENROLLING BY INVITATION ONLY -  Potential participants will be invited to participate through various methods to complete the interest survey that will be used to facilitate recruitment for individual interviews and focus groups.

Detailed description of study

What will happen during the study?

  • Participants engaging with the survey will take an average of 20-30 minutes with only one-time participation; however, some participants may take the same survey across repeated administrations as a result of annual recruitment or targeted pushes to inform researchers and other stakeholders of the status of current outreach and training needs.
  • Participants engaging in semi-structured individual interviews (conducted in person, by phone, and/or in virtual format such as Zoom) will participate for an average of 45-60 minutes.
  • Those participating in  focus groups will participate an average of 90-120 minutes (in person, by phone, and/or in virtual format such as Zoom). Similar to participation within the survey, it is anticipated that most interview and focus group participants will only participate on one occasion; however, repeated participation across years may occur given ongoing recruitment and recruited cohorts (e.g., state level stakeholders, rural subgroups, particular provider groups, individuals with disabilities who are active in advocacy work) who may have greater likelihood of additional participation. Engagement in the survey, interview or focus group does not preclude engagement in the other formats (i.e., one individual may participate across years and formats).
