Brief description of study

What is the purpose of this study?

To assess adverse childhood experiences involving family-level and community-level adversity and the relationship between these experiences and risk factors in pregnancy as well as pregnancy outcomes.

THIS STUDY IS ENROLLING BY INVITATION ONLY - All pregnant patients' charts seeking prenatal care at Coleman and PND (Prenatal Diagnosis clinic) will be accessed to identify if they are candidates. We will be reviewing charts to identify whether the patient is pregnant or non-pregnant, age greater than 18 years and whether they are English speaking. During the routine prenatal intake session by the clinic nurse, potential participants will be offered participation in the study via an email link to the RedCap survey or through a QR code that the patient can scan during a prenatal visit.

Detailed description of study

What will happen during the study?

1. One survey conducted one time in pregnancy.

2. A clinic nurse will give the basic introduction to the patient about the study and given an option to perform the survey via email or during a clinic visit.

3. If the patient opts to complete the survey via email, she will provide a reliable email address and the researcher will send a link to the RedCap survey.

4. If the patient opts to complete the survey in clinic, the patient will be provided with a QR code to scan with her phone which will take her to the RedCap survey.

5. The patient will be able to consent to the survey as soon as they enter the RedCap survey.
