Brief description of study

Why is this study being done?

Researchers at the IUPUI School of Informatics and Computing Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Department are looking for volunteers to participate in an study to better understand how to best serve aging heart disease patients. 

Who can take part?

Older adults (ages 65 or older) who have been diagnosed with heart disease.

Detailed description of study

What will happen during the study?

  • Complete a demographic questionnaire
  • Participate in a 1-on-1 virtual interview via Zoom lasting 45-60 minutes about your experience with symptom tracking and technology use. 

Incentive/compensation

  • You will be compensated for completing all of the study tasks.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Heart disease, Heart failure, Heart attack, Coronary artery disease, Cardiomyopathy
  • Age: 65 years - 100 years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Diagnosed with heart disease such as Coronary Heart Disease
  • Experience with symptom tracking (currently self-reporting) including those who are not current users (stopped self-reporting)
  • Completed heart disease symptom tracking surveys (i.e., chest pain, lightheadedness, difficulty sleeping, etc.)
  • Interested in using digital and voice technologies to assist in the symptom tracking process
  • Don't have experience with symptom tracking but are interested
  • Willing to answer questions about your age, gender, education level, smartphone/computer use, vision and hearing
  • Willing to answer questions about your experiences with heart health symptom tracking and technology uses
