Brief description of study
What is the purpose of this study?
The purpose of this study is to provide a framework for collecting biospecimens from pediatric patients with IBD or suspected to have IBD, from which clinical data can be linked to conduct a variety of research studies which may include:
- Understanding the genetic, environmental, and microbial factors influencing IBD
- Development of new IBD prognostic and diagnostic information
- Responses to current therapeutic management and IBD care
Detailed description of study
What will happen during the study?
Pediatric IBD patients treated at Riley Hospital for Children will be asked to join the Peds IBD Biobank. Sources of biospecimens may include blood, stool, urine, and saliva. Every effort will be made to collect these specimens at the time of standard of care sampling. This may include when patients go the laboratory for blood sampling, or during routine medical infusions when IV lines are placed and blood is routinely drawn. In addition, when stool studies are ordered, a small aliquot of stool may be sampled for biobanking.
