Brief description of study
Why is this study being done?
The interACT Lab at Indiana University is looking for eager, dynamic, and curious youth to participate in the BIRD Study. We want to earn more about the complex relationships between puberty, cognition, social relationships, and health in adolescents. The goal of this study is to gain a further understanding of adolescent brain and behavior.
Who can take part?
Children and teens ages between 8-16 years old and their parent/legal guardian are eligible to participate.
Detailed description of study
What will happen during the study?
Attend one study visit (90 min.) at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.
Study participation involves the following:
- Complete questionnaires and cognitive tasks via a computer
- Body measurements will be taken (hip, waist, height, and weight).
- Provide saliva and hair samples.
Incentive/compensation
- In total, families can earn up to $75 for completing the study session (parents/ legal guardians will be paid $50 for bringing their child in for the study session and completing their questionnaire; youth will receive $20 for their participation, and $5 for providing a hair sample).

- Self-reported learning or cognitive disabilities.
