Brief description of study
What is the purpose of this study?
Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) is a condition when the placenta grows too deeply into the uterus. Women who have had a C-section before and have a placenta that covers their cervix are at higher risk of getting PAS. The purpose of this study is to create a database of clinical data of pregnancies complication with PAS. The database will help us in learning more about PAS. The secondary purpose is to be part of the multi-center PAS database through the Pan American Society of Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS2), of which Indiana University is a member.
THIS STUDY IS ENROLLING BY INVITATION ONLY - The study PI (Hiba Mustafa, MD) is the MFM leader for IU PAS program. Patients suspected to have PAS are generally referred for MFM evaluation at Riley MFM clinic during which subjects will be identified and enrolled by the study PI.
Detailed description of study
What will happen during the study?
The study aims to create a database for pregnancies complicated with placenta accreta spectrum disorder. The database will be comprised of retrospective and prospective portions. The retrospective portion will collect data of pregnancies with PAS from January 2022 to January 2023. The prospective portion will aim to prospectively collect data of pregnancies suspected with PAS who present to Riley Maternal-Fetal medicine clinic for evaluation. We also aim to be part of the multi-center PAS database through the Pan American Society of Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS2) of which IU is member of. The database will aid in generating future studies utilizing retrospective analysis of the database aiming in answering questions regarding pathogenesis, risk factors, diagnosis, management, and improving outcomes.
