Detailed description of study

Patients will be recruited on a prospective basis during their in-person visit to the outpatient Oncology Clinic at Indiana University Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center (IUSCCC). With permission from the clinic physician, a trained and authorized member of the study will screen via the electronic medical record (EMR) all patients who will be presenting in clinic visit by utilizing the inclusion criteria.

Participants will complete a one-time paper survey asking about demographics (age, sex, etc.), cancer stage and diagnosis, previous cancer treatment, and financial information. The survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes.

This study investigates the financial barriers faced by breast cancer patients who participate in clinical trials. Breast cancer is a disease where cells in the breast grow uncontrollably. This study looks at costs like lost income, travel, and parking for patients enrolled in these trials.

Participants will complete a one-time paper survey, which will ask questions about their age, gender, cancer stage, previous treatments, and financial details. The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete.

  • Who can participate: Adults 18 years or older with any stage of breast cancer who have participated in a clinical trial at the IUSCCC in the past 18 months are eligible. Participants must be able to read and write in English and have no mental disabilities that would prevent survey completion.
  • Study details: Participants will be asked to complete a paper survey during their visit to the oncology clinic. The survey will gather information about their demographics, cancer history, and financial details related to trial participation.
