Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to determine barriers and facilitators to participation in emergency department patient experience surveys among vulnerable groups including younger patients, Black or African-American patients, and patients with Medicaid insurance. We will do this through interviews with patients to understand their perspectives and how we can improve their ability to provide feedback on their care.

THIS STUDY IS ENROLLING BY INVITATION ONLY - Patients will be screened for study eligibility using EHR data, and patients will be approached prior to discharge from the ED about their interest in participation.

Detailed description of study

Potentially eligible patients will be invited to participate in a one-time qualitative interview of 30-45 minutes with no planned follow-up or additional study needs.

Interviews will occur either in a separate private room in the ED or virtually via Zoom, according to patient preference.
