Brief description of study

How does your family use digital and online technology? Share your experiences and help improve online safety and AI tools for families like yours!

We are inviting parents/guardians and young adults, ages 18–35, on the Autism spectrum to join our study to learn how families use and think about digital technology in everyday life.

This includes things like:

  • Phones, apps, and online platforms
  • Online safety and family rules
  • New tools like artificial intelligence (AI), including chatbots

Our goal is to better understand your experiences and needs so that we can create safer, more helpful tools and resources for families.

Detailed description of study

If you take part in our study, you will participate in two rounds of interviews (about 1 to 1.5 hours total):

  1. Parent interview (parent only)
    • Talk about your young adult’s technology use
    • Share your thoughts on online safety and AI
  2. Family interview (together)
    • Parent/guardian and young adult talk together about technology and AI
    • This part may be video recorded (with permission)
  3. Young adult interview (young adult only)
    • Share your own experiences and opinions

Important things to know:

  • Interviews may be audio or video recorded.
  • You can skip any question, take breaks, or stop at any time.
  • Fraudulent, duplicate or bot-generated responses will not be paid.

Payment/compensation:

  • Families will receive compensation for completing the study. This payment covers participation for the parent/guardian and young adult together.
