The purpose of this study is to understand how people behave in computer-mediated settings.

The key hypotheses to be tested are that individuals will be more likely to invest economic resources in increasing their competitive ability when (1) doing so is inexpensive, compared to when it is expensive, (2) when an interaction partner has a reputat
