Brief description of study
The purpose of this study is to determine if providing information about their child's genetic risk for Type 2 diabetes motivates parents to change their family's diet and help their child increase their physical activity and maintain a healthy weight.
Detailed description of study
The purpose of this study is to determine if providing a child's genetic risk information to their parents motivated parents to change the child's physical activity (PA) levels, diet and child's BMI.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: type 2 diabetes,gestational diabetes,prediabetes

Age: Between 18 Years - 100 Years

Gender: All
Inclusion Criteria
Families consisting of at least 1 parent and one child
Parents must be 18+ years old and meet one of the following criteria:
Diagnosis of gestational diabetes during pregnancy with child in the study
Been diagnosed with prediabetes
Been told by their doctor that they are overweight or obese
Children must be between the ages of 2 and 8 and meet one of the following criteria:
Mother was diagnosed with gestational diabetes while child was in-utero
Weighed 9 pounds or more at birth
Child?s parent has been diagnosed with pre-diabetes
Child?s parent has been diagnosed as overweight or obese
Exclusion Criteria
Family will be excluded if mother or father has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes
